  • Installation & aftercare
  • Timber floors need a minimum 10mm expansion gap around all edges where the floor is meeting skirting or fixed structures such as kitchen islands.

  • This is essential for natural movement of the floor as room temperatures change throughout the year.

  • The quick fix DIY solution is to leave gap at existing skirting and cover with a small angled piece of timber known as “scotia”

  • The professional installer and discerning homeowner will take the opportunity to add another dimension to their project by replacing the skirting and cutting the base of the door frame.

  • This effectively allows the floor to float under the skirting and door frame for a flawless finish and makes installation easier.

  • Dry cleaning with a mop, broom or vacuum cleaner is generally all you need to do.

  • Marks and dirt can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth, following the grain of the plank.

  •  Damp Cleaning. We recommend that laminate floors be cleaned with a laminate cleaner where damp cleaning is required. Add dosage cap of cleaner to 5 litres of water. Cleaning should then take place with well rung out mop or slightly damp cloth.

  • An air humidity is ideal with a room temperature of approx. [. 20| C.

  • It is always beneficial to use protective felt pads under moveable furniture

Fibre type

Tufted carpets are made from different fibre types, both natural and synthetic. The fibre type largely determines the appearance, texture and performance of a carpet and it is therefore important to distinguish the different options.

Wool is a natural fibre from sheep and is both renewable and sustainable.

the fibre structure is strong and hard-wearing and provides natural protection to help resist staining and soiling. It is also naturally flame retardant.

wool carpets have a natural and soft luxurious feel.

Wool blends

  • Wool blends are a mixture between wool and a synthetic yarn, often polypropylene, in often a 50/50 or 80/20 mix.

  • Wool blends offer good value for money, combining the durability from polypropylene with the natural appearance and luxurious feel of wool.

  • Polyamide is a synthetic fibre with excellent performance characteristics.

  • Polyamide has a luxurious look and soft feel.

  • Polyamide has a reduced soil adherence and is heat and wear resistant, making polyamide carpets exceptionally hard-wearing and highly durable.

  • Choose colour to create a warm atmosphere in a room. Choose a sparkling colour for the floor or walls to create an inspiring office or cosy children’s room.

  • Dark or light? Darker colours are sophisticated and warm and make a room look more intimate, whereas light colours make a room look larger and brighter.

  • neutrals

  • Neutrals such as beige and grey tones are colours that go well with any colour scheme and form a neutral basis for any interior.

  • bright colours

  • Bright colours such as reds and blues lift a floor and make a statement. Such colours are great in offices or playrooms. A rug is a good alternative to brighten a room without it being too overpowering.

  • dark or light

  • Darker colours can make a room appear more intimate, whereas lighter colours on the floor make a room appear brighter and larger.

  • soiling

  • Darker, multi-coloured and patterned floors are especially effective at hiding soiling.

Stain free

  • The Ab Stain free Twist collection is made with special soft twisted tufts; these tufts are twisted to strengthen the carpet making it more rigid and dimensionally stable. These twisted pile fibres further enable the carpet to conceal all kinds of impressions and any sort of marks.

  • We can advise you on the perfect carpet for you.

  • There is a carpet for every room in the house: from a practical carpet on the stairs or in the home office to soft bedroom carpets and colourful carpets for the children’s room.

  • Always ask to bring samples home as the light will be different, affecting how the carpet will look in your house.
